MARVEL MARATHON

MARVEL MARATHON WATCH GUIDE

MCU
RELEASE ORDER.

Watch the Marvel Cinematic Universe as audiences first encountered it, from Iron Man through the latest films, live-action series, specials and shorts.

THE APPROACH

WHY WATCH THE MCU IN RELEASE ORDER?

Release order follows the dates on which each film, season, special or short first became available. It preserves the sequence in which characters were introduced, alliances changed and post-credit scenes pointed towards the next story.

For a first watch, this is usually the clearest route through the MCU. A chronological order moves stories into their approximate in-universe years, but that can place later productions before the films they were written to follow. Release order keeps those creative and narrative connections intact.

This guide focuses on titles classified as MCU in the Marvel Marathon catalogue. Earlier Marvel Television seasons, Fox’s X-Men films, Sony’s connected Spider-Man universes and other legacy films remain available in the complete Marvel tracker.

QUICK ANSWERS

MCU RELEASE-ORDER QUESTIONS

Should I watch the MCU in release order or chronological order?

Release order is the stronger starting point for most first-time viewers because it preserves introductions, reveals and post-credit connections. Chronological order works well for a rewatch when you already know the major characters and events.

Are television series included?

Yes. This list includes live-action series classified as MCU and keeps each season together. It does not split individual episodes across films, even when a season covers several points in the timeline.

Are Marvel One-Shots and specials included?

Yes. Marvel One-Shots, live-action specials and official short-form MCU stories are included according to their original release dates.

Where are the X-Men, Venom and older Spider-Man films?

They appear in the complete Marvel Marathon tracker and their own guides. This page stays focused on the central MCU release order.

How are upcoming releases handled?

An upcoming title is added only after a specific release date has been officially announced. Announcements limited to a year or general window remain outside the checklist until a date is confirmed.

EDITORIAL NOTES

SOURCES AND UPDATES

The catalogue is checked against current first-party listings and announcements. Release dates can change, so upcoming entries are reviewed when Marvel or a distributing studio publishes new information.
