HOW A SECOND TEAM THOR REACHED HOME VIDEO
By 5 January 2017 Team Thor: Part 2 had been listed as a special feature on the Doctor Strange Blu-ray, alongside a gag reel and an overview of Marvel’s Phase 3. The following day the film was dated for Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on 14 February 2017, with 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and on-demand editions following on 28 February. The release carried more than 80 minutes of bonus material, including five featurettes and five deleted scenes.
Marvel put a preview clip online on 14 February, the day the film reached digital platforms. The five-minute short was released in the US that day, and this site dates it from then.
ROOMMATE TROUBLES
THOR TRIES TO PAY HIS RENT IN ASGARDIAN COIN
The short continues the documentary spoof of what Thor and Darryl were up to during Captain America: Civil War: while Captain America and Iron Man fight it out, Thor tries to pay Darryl his rent in Asgardian coins. In the preview clip Thor offers “ancient Asgardian currency and a pumpkin,” describing coins that “may or may not be worth a gazillion human dollars.”
Darryl ends up with most of the cleaning and suggests Thor get a job, and Thor counters by proposing they hire a servant. The film also includes more footage of Thor’s visit to the kindergarten class from the first short.

WAITITI WRITES AND DIRECTS, HEMSWORTH AND PEARSON RETURN
Taika Waititi wrote and directed, with Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Daley Pearson as Darryl Jacobson. Waititi, who also directed Thor: Ragnarok, previously made What We Do in the Shadows, another comedy about roommates. Ragnarok was due on 3 November 2017.
Pearson is a co-founder of the Australian company Ludo Studio and an executive producer of Bluey. The home-release listing carried a one-line blurb:
“See more of the hilarious partnership between Thor and his roommate Darryl in this satirical short.”

THE REWATCH
A FIVE-MINUTE SEQUEL BEFORE GUARDIANS VOL. 2
In January 2018 a third short, featuring Darryl and the Grandmaster played by Jeff Goldblum, was announced for the Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray on 20 February 2018. Pearson later reprised Darryl in Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022.
In the Marvel Marathon, Team Thor: Part 2 sits in the MCU release order guide directly after Doctor Strange and directly before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It reads best after Team Thor, which comes earlier in that guide, because it picks up with the same flatmates and the same Civil War absence.
