HOW THE FILM REACHED THE SCREEN

Development on a third Deadpool film began at 20th Century Fox by November 2016, and the project moved to Marvel Studios when Disney acquired Fox in March 2019. Shawn Levy was revealed to be directing in March 2022. The team felt they lacked an original story until Reynolds realised that including Wolverine would solve many of the issues, and Reynolds announced Jackman’s return in September 2022.

Principal photography began on 22 May 2023 in London and at Pinewood Studios under the working title Tidal Wave, was suspended on 14 July 2023 because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, resumed by 23 November and wrapped on 24 January 2024. Rob Simonsen composed the score, and NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” plays over the opening credits. Reported budget figures vary widely, from an initial $200 million report to a net $429 million.

“the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool.”
