Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+ on 4 March 2025 with two episodes and ran nine. Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk meet again, with Fisk now running for mayor of New York.
A REVIVAL AND A REWRITE
HOW BORN AGAIN WAS MADE
The series is a revival and continuation of the Netflix Daredevil, with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles for Marvel Studios from 2021. Matt Corman and Chris Ord were attached as head writers by May 2022. By late September 2023, while production was on hold because of the Hollywood labour disputes, Marvel Studios decided to overhaul the series. Corman and Ord were let go as head writers and remained credited as executive producers, and Dario Scardapane was hired as showrunner in October 2023.
Three new episodes were written, including a new pilot, and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were hired to direct the remaining episodes. Cox confirmed in May 2024 that nine episodes had been filmed. Filming took place at Silvercup Studios East in Queens with location work across New York, and the Newton Brothers composed the score.

HOW THE SEASON WAS RECEIVED
The nine episodes ran from “Heaven’s Half Hour” on 4 March 2025 to “Straight to Hell” on 15 April 2025, with runtimes from 42 minutes to an hour. Disney said the two-episode premiere received 7.5 million views in its first five days, the biggest Disney+ debut of 2025 at that point.
Rotten Tomatoes lists an 87% critics’ score from 224 reviews and a 79% audience score, and its consensus calls it “an ambitious and at times ungainly crime saga that marks a mature tonal shift for the MCU.” Metacritic gives it 69 from 33 critics and a user score of 7.6. Critics noted that the seams of the creative overhaul are visible in the season, and Cox said that the link to the Netflix series was “a whole new thing.”
THE REWATCH
ASTRA NOMINATIONS AND A BLACK REEL WIN
The season earned Astra TV Award nominations for best drama series and for Cox and D’Onofrio, and a Black Reel TV Award win for outstanding editing for “Isle of Joy.” Fisk’s path to the mayor’s office follows the post-credits scene of Echo, and a second season premiered on 24 March 2026.
