WATCH THE FANTASTIC FOUR FILMS IN RELEASE ORDER
The four released live-action films belong to three separate continuities. Fantastic Four from 2005 and Rise of the Silver Surfer form one story, while the 2015 film starts again with a different cast and origin.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces another version of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm in its own 1960s-inspired universe. The earlier films are not required viewing, but release order shows how each production reinterpreted the team.
The checklist stays with films led by the Fantastic Four. Brief variants and later crossover appearances are explained below without turning every connected MCU title into a required chapter. The Marvel movies guide provides the wider live-action film route.

What order should I watch the Fantastic Four films in?
Release order is the clearest route: watch the 2005 film, Rise of the Silver Surfer, the 2015 reboot and then The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Is Rise of the Silver Surfer a sequel?
Yes. It continues the 2005 film with the same principal cast and should be watched directly after it.
Is Fantastic Four from 2015 connected to the earlier films?
No. It is a separate reboot with a new cast, origin and continuity.
Do I need the older films before The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
No. First Steps introduces a new version of the team in a separate universe and works as its own starting point.
Why are Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Avengers: Doomsday not listed?
This checklist is reserved for films led by the Fantastic Four. Reed Richards appears as a variant in Multiverse of Madness, and the First Steps team continues into Doomsday, but those crossover films are not Fantastic Four instalments.
